The Japanese anime series Naruto, based on the popular series of the same name, has become so wildly popular with both young and adult viewers, and not just in Japan but all over the world, that it has so far spawned 10 full-length movies. The first three movies follow the storyline from Naruto, the first part of the series, and the remaining seven from Naruto Shippuden, the second part of the series.

The first movie based on the popular anime and manga series, “Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow” was released in theaters in Japan on August 21, 2004 and in the United States on June 4, 2007. In the Japanese version of the film, a ten-minute opening sequence was included with showed Naruto’s inability to use the bathroom while taking part in a sports event. This sequence is notable because almost every character from the series, including the dead ones, made an appearance in it.
Written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa and directed by Tensai Okamura, the story of film takes places after the 101st episode and revolves around the villain Doto Kazahana’s plot to take the treasure hidden by his brother Sosetsu (whom he had murdered) from his niece Koyuki Kazahana, a princess from the island called the Land of Snow. Naruto and ninjas of Team 7 fight to save the princess and restore her to her father’s throne.
2.Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel
The second movie based on the Naruto series, “Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel” was released in theaters in Japan on August 6, 2005. However, the English language version of the movie was released only as a direct-to-video in the USA on July 16, 2008. Co-written by Hirotsugu Kawasaki and Yuka Miyata and directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki, the story of the movie takes place after the 106th episode.
The story of the film revolves around a mineral called the Stone of Gelel, which has mysterious and tremendously strong powers. Master Haido, the villain, sends his ninjas to find the stone, which he intends to use to create a “utopia” – a perfect world free from wars and sufferings. But in order to achieve his dream, he is willing to kill everyone who stands in his way. Initially a believer in Haido’s plan, Naruto and ninjas of Team 7, later fight to save the universe from Haido’s evil design.
3.Naruto the Movie: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom
The third movie based on the Naruto series, “Naruto the Movie: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom” was released on August 6, 2006. The English language version of the movie was first broadcast in the United States on Cartoon Network on November 8, 2008 and it was released on DVD on November 11, 2008.
The story of the movie revolves around the struggle for power in the Land of the Moon, an extremely wealthy nation. Naruto and the ninjas of Team 7 are hired to protect Michiro, the prince of the land, and his son Hikaru, while they are on a world tip. While they are away, a noble man named Shabadaba deposes the king, Michiru’s father Kakeru, in a coup d’état. Naruto and his friends fight to restore the kingdom back to Michiru, who promises to be a good ruler.
4.Naruto Shippuden the Movie
The fourth movie based on the Naruto series and the first based on the Naruto Shippuden series, “Naruto Shippuden the Movie” was first released in Japan on August 4, 2007. The DVD version of the movie was released in Japan on April 23, 200 and in the United States on November 10, 2009. It was written by Junki Takegami and directed by Hajime Kamegaki.
The story of the movie revolves around the attempt by the villain Yomi to take over the world by reviving the spirit of the demon Moryo, to whom he lends his own body temporarily until a suitable body can be found. However, a priestess named Shion, who has the ability to seal the demon, poses a threat to his design. The priestess also prophesies Naruto’s death. Naruto and his friends fight to save the priestess and the world and himself from Yomi’s army of stones.
5.Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds
The fifth movie based on the Naruto series and the second based on the Naruto Shippuden series, “Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds”, was released in Japan on August 2, 2008. The English version of the movie was released in the United States on DVD and Blu-ray on October 25, 2011.
The story of the movie revolves around the attack on Konoha by the ninja of the Land of Sky (in revenge for the destruction of their county by the Land of Fire during the Second Great Ninja War) and Naruto’s journey to save the inhabitants of a distant village on the outskirts of the Land of Fire. The sixth movie based on the Naruto series and the third based on the Naruto Shippuden series, “Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Inheritors of the Will of Fire” was released in theaters in Japan on August 1, 2009 and on DVD and Blu-ray in the USA on October 23, 2012.
The story of the movie revolves around the potential outbreak of the Fourth Great Ninja World War and the race to stop it. When ninja from Kumogakure, Kirigakure, Iwagakure and Sunagakure with Kekkei Genkai abilities begin to disappear, suspicion falls on Konohagakure, which is the only village not affected by the events. With the other nation amassing troops to invade the Land of Fire, Naruto and his comrades must race against time to find the real culprit and stop the war.

The story of the movie revolves around the mission to find and capture Mukade, a missing-nin who has travelled to the past to take over the Five Great Shinobi Countries using the power of Ryukyaku. The story of the movie revolves around Naruto’s attempts to escape from the criminal confinement facility where he has been imprisoned on false charges of attempted assassination of the Raikage of the Hidden Cloud Village and the murder of jonins from two other villages. In the prison, he meets a female ninja called Ryuzetsu from the Hidden Grass Village who reveals to him that she was framed by some members of her village. Naruto must escape from the prison and prove his innocence.
